2015 NFL Mock Draft

By on November 15, 2014

The teams in the bottom quarter of the 2014 NFL standings are already looking towards to 2015 NFL Draft as they desperately search for ways to improve for the upcoming seasons.

Nobody wants to be a perennial loser like the Raiders or Jaguars have been for a decade, and the Browns are proof that teams can build a roster to pull themselves out of the basement of their respective division.

The 2015 NFL Mock Draft order is loosely based on current standings and projections for the final standings.

1. Oakland Raiders – USC DE/DT Leonard WilliamsLeonard Williams, DE, Southern Cal USC - Kirby LeeOakland Raiders BannerThe Raiders picked a gem in LB Khalil Mack, but need to continue to add pieces to the defense to stop AFC West offenses. This pick will be easier to auction to teams that fall in love with Marcus Mariota than it was for the Texans with Jadeveon Clowney in the 2014 NFL Draft.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars – Nebraska DE Randy GregoryNebraska DE Randy Gregory - Nati HarnikJacksonville Jaguars BannerAfter largely addressing the offensive side of the ball in the past two drafts, Gus Bradley finally gets the impact pass rusher for his defense.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Oregon QB Marcus MariotaOregon QB Marcus Mariota - Ryan KangTampa Bay Buccaneers BannerIt’s highly unlikely that Marcus Mariota makes it to the 3rd pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, but the Buccaneers won’t let a top QB slip past them again. Mariota has a similar demeanor to Lovie Smith and would be just what the organization needs to inject some energy into the fan base.

4. New York Jets – Florida State QB Jameis WinstonOklahoma State v Florida StateNew York Jets BannerWhile every member of the media in New York would love this pick for the Jets, it actually make sense from a football standpoint. Winston has already faced an immense amount of scrutiny during his college career and has responded well on the field, despite responding verbally like a child reading at a 3rd grade level.

5. Tennessee Titans – Clemson OLB Vic BeasleyClemson OLB Vic Beasley - Rainier EhrhardtTennessee Titans BannerThe Titans defense is struggling in their transition to the 3-4 defense and desperately need a speed rusher. Kamerion Wimbley isn’t providing enough burst and Derrick Morgan was drafted to be a 4-3 DE and is better suited for that scheme. Vic Beasley is undersized for DE and will be a Von Miller-type of player at OLB in the NFL.

6. Atlanta Falcons – Texas A&M OT Cedric OgbuehiCedric Ogbuehi LT Texas A&M - Aaron M. SprecherAtlanta Falcons BannerAfter another year of getting Matt Ryan obliterated behind a poor offensive line, the Falcons find themselves with the 6th pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, grabbing another top tackle. Jake Matthews has struggled in his first season, but should be able to improve with a full offseason at one position, Left or Right Tackle, while his old A&M teammate Cedric Ogbuehi (pronounced Ah-boo-hee) likely takes the left spot with his supreme athleticism.

7. St. Louis Rams – Alabama WR Amari CooperAlabama WR Amari Cooper - Brynn AndersonSt Louis Rams BannerThe QB position needs to be addressed through either free agency or a trade up to grab one of the top-2 prospects in the draft. If the Rams don’t make a move up for Mariota, Amari Cooper would fill the need of a go-to player on offense. This guy is going to be GOOD.

8. Washington Redskins – Alabama Safety Landon CollinsLandon Collins, SS, Alabama - Kevin C. CoxWashington Redskins BannerThe Redskins secondary has been awful since the passing of the late Sean Taylor. While not quite on Taylor’s level, Collins is one of the better safeties to come out of college in the past decade and has the ballhawking ability to play FS but may be better suited for SS with his 6’0″ 220 lb. frame.

9. New York Giants – Stanford OT Andrus PeatStanford OT Andrus Peat - Bob StantonNew York Giants BannerEli Manning has been a tough SOB behind the depleted offensive line the Giants have provided him. They need to give him time to pass so that he can finish his career with another chance at a playoff run.

10. Carolina Panthers – Iowa OT Brandon ScherffIowa OT Brandon Scherff - Charlie NeibergallCarolina Panthers BannerCam Newton was brutally punished by the Panthers front office this season after longtime LT Jordan Gross retired. The Panthers have one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL and expected Cam Newton’s mobility to make up for it. They will easily grab one of the top Left Tackles in the draft.

The only group from the Raiders and the Jags that have played well this year are their defensive lines. Why would they use a top 2 pick on a position of strength. Oakland will go amari cooper they need a number 1 WR, and cooper will be worth a top pick (they could trade down and still get him at 3 or 4).

Jacksonville will elect to either trade down to around the 10th pick (to draft Melvin Gordon) or draft Ogebuhi (former teamates with Joekell at A&M0 and then trade back into the first round and take Gordon in the top 16. With a number one RB added to a talented set of WR’s, this team could really compete in this division.
