1. Tennessee Titans – Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss
The Titans secured their franchise QB last year and he took a beating behind their sub-par offensive line. They need to keep Marcus Mariota upright and Laremy Tunsil is a rare prospect at left tackle. Tunsil would allow Taylor Lewan to move to right tackle where he wouldn’t have to deal with as many speed rushers. Laremy Tunsil is the most talented tackle in the 2016 NFL Draft, but teams are avoiding players with legal issues more than ever, evidenced by La’el Collins plummet in 2015. If the Titans are turned off by Tunsil’s off the field legal issues, Joey Bosa will be the pick.
2. Cleveland Browns – Jared Goff, QB, California
The Browns would be wise to trade this pick to a team that becomes enamored with one of these QBs or take a safe local product (Joey Bosa), but more than likely they will take either Jared Goff, Carson Wentz, or Paxton Lynch. Lynch fits the mold of past Hue Jackson QBs, but Goff is more polished. Carson Wentz is the wild card in this process and it sounds like a real possibility for him to be the first QB taken in the 2016 NFL Draft.
3. Homeless Chargers -Joey Bosa, DE, Ohio State
The Chargers get the top talent in the draft at #3. Joey Bosa is a great value pick at this point because he should be able to fit whatever defensive scheme the Chargers choose to employ in their uncertain future.
4. Dallas Cowboys – Jalen Ramsey, CB/S, Florida State
The Cowboys fall from grace was due to injuries to Tony Romo & Dez Bryant, but a top-5 draft pick is the silver lining in their disaster season. Jalen Ramsey is the best DB to come into the league in years. The Cowboys did select CB-FS tweener Byron Jones with their 1st round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, so adding Jalen Ramsey gives Rod Marinelli a lot of flexibility within his secondary to make sure he is getting the most our of his players.
5. Jacksonville Jaguars -DeForest Buckner, DE, Oregon
Times are a’changin’ in the AFC South. The Jaguars have a solid, young team that is only a few pieces away from contention in the AFC South. With Dante Fowler Jr. coming back in 2016 from his torn ACL, the Jaguars getting double 1st round impact on their defense could be the swing they need to finally run Gus Bradley’s system. DeForest Buckner could give the Jags a scary defensive line.
6. Baltimore Ravens – Vernon Hargreaves III, CB, Florida
The Ravens had a nightmare of a 2015 season. The easy excuse it that they were plagued by injuries (which is true) but their roster lacks the same level of talent from a few years ago. Although the Ravens drafted Breshad Perriman in 2015, don’t be surprised if they reach for the top WR (Laquon Treadwell) in the 2016 NFL Draft here. As of right now, the Ravens bigger need is to worry about covering all the WRs in the AFC North (ok, just the Steelers and Bengals WRs).
7. San Francisco 49ers -Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
Chip Kelly changed the course of 2016 NFL Mock drafts everywhere when he became the 49ers head coach. Before Chip Kelly, the 49ers were easily taking a QB with their top pick. Now Kaepernick will get at least a chance to redeem himself in Kelly’s spread offense. The 49ers can now turn their attention rebuilding their defense and grab the most athletic player in the draft to play alongside Bowman.
8. Miami Dolphins – DE Shaq Lawson, DE, Clemson
The Dolphins hired the Bears OC Adam Gase to be their next head coach, but with the top offensive lineman already off the board the Dolphins could turn their attention to boosting their defensive pass rush. Olivier Vernon is a free agent and the Dolphins already have enough of their salary cap tied up on the defensive line, so it’s unlikely he returns. Shaq Lawson is everything that Dion Jordan is not and would be a great pairing with Cameron Wake. Lamar Miller could depart via free agency, making this a potential landing spot for Ezekiel Elliott.
