History of the Madden Curse

Madden 13 – Calvin Johnson

Madden_NFL_13_cover

Apparently the Madden Curse can only stop humans, and Megatron is anything but human. He went on to break or tie 9 NFL records, including Jerry Rice’s single season receiving record. The Lions, however, went on an 8 game losing streak to finish the season, finishing in last place in the NFC North.

Months after the season, Calvin Johnson admitted to playing with 3 broken fingers for a majority of the year, which may have contributed to his drop in TD production (5 TDs, down from 16 in previous year).

Madden 25 – Barry Sanders & Adrian Peterson

Madden 25

For the 25th anniversary of Madden, HOF players were entered into the Cover Vote. Barry Sanders edged out Adrian Peterson in the final, and since it was clear he wasn’t coming out of retirement, the Madden Curse was going to take a backseat for the 25th of the games production, right?

WRONG. Peterson still managed to land the cover for the next-gen consoles. Peterson ended up needing groin surgery after missing the final few games of the season with the Vikings early elimination from the playoffs.

some of these dont consist of madden curses. Calvin Johnson was not effected clearly he played through the season and he broke (and tied) records. if he didnt tell everyone that he hurt himself no one would’ve known

and Richard Sherman MADE IT TO THE SUPERBOWL!!! how is that a curse. a debatable play call to win the game is not a madden curse effect neither was that shoulder injury he still played like richard sherman throughout the season

thats at least 2 points for players

drew brees, Larry fitzgerald are debatable
