NFL Free Agency Winners/Losers

By on March 10, 2015

NFL Free Agency is off to a wild start after Jimmy Graham was traded to the Seahawks for Max Unger and a 1st round draft pick kicked off the NFL New Year.

It’s a good thing the major signings were all leaked over the weekend leading up to the official 4pm ET start to NFL Free Agency, because the internet may have broken as Kim Kardashian intended to.

The unprecedented amount of trades has to be a result of the increased NFL salary cap giving teams more flexibility for moving large contracts and absorbing the salary cap penalties.

For the record, winning in Free Agency hardly ever contributes to winning on the field when the actual games are played. Ask the Redskins…

Winner – Indianapolis Colts

RB Frank Gore

OG Todd Herremans
S Mike Adams (re-signed)
WR Andre Johnson
DE Earl Okine
DT Kendall Langford

The Colts have been very active early on in free agency and managed to steal a few players from the Philadelphia Eagles. Trent Cole comes over to bolster the pass rush, while Todd Herremans and Frank Gore should provide a boost to the running game.

With Andre Johnson about to join the party, Andrew Luck is ready to take his team to the next level in 2015.

Chip Kelly has a plan, they said.

Chip Kelly is a football genius, they said.

Time will tell if overpaying for the best CB on the market and trading away the best QB for an injury prone one is a method for success. As of right now, it just looks like Chip Kelly has a problem with all the talent Andy Reid stocked the Eagles with.

Two of the Eagles major acquisitions (Alonso; Bradford) are coming off torn ACLs and didn’t even play in 2014.
