#1 – David Tyree Helmet Catch in Super Bowl XLII

January XX, 2008 – Super Bowl XLII vs Patriots

The Patriots were 18-0, going into Super Bowl XLII against the NFC’s 6th seeded New York Giants. There was no way the Giants could stop the most prolific offense in NFL history. With the Giants pass rush neutralizing Tom Brady and the Patriots, it was up to Eli Manning to make something happen with less than a minute remaining in the game. On 3rd & 5, Manning scrambles away from Patriots Jarvis Green to get off a 37 yard pass to David Tyree, who was covered by Rodney Harrison. Somehow, Tyree managed to out-wrestle Harrison for the ball, needing to secure the ball against his helmet to come down with it. Four plays later, the Giants would go on to throw a touchdown to Plaxico Burress and end the Patriots chances at an undefeated season.
