2016 NFL Mock Draft

9. Jacksonville Jaguars - A’Shawn Robinson, DL, Alabama
Times are a’changin’ in the AFC South. The Jaguars have a solid, young team that is only a few more pieces away from contention in the AFC South. With Dante Fowler Jr. coming back in 2016 from his torn ACL, the Jaguars are getting double 1st round impact on their defense could be the swing they need to finally run Gus Bradley’s system.

10. St. Louis Rams - Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State
The Nick Foles experiment was short lived. If Jeff Fisher comes back in 2016, he could try to put another band-aid on the QB position, but a new coach is going to get his own QB. Connor Cook is a battle-tested QB who could succeed in an offense with a strong running game.
11. Detroit Lions - Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame
The Lions held the 1st overall pick in our previous mock draft, but have been able to jumpstart their season after a few front office firings and promoting Jim-Bob Cooter to their offensive coordinator position. Jaylon Smith is going to be the next Patrick Willis and the Lions defense needs a defensive leader to play alongside DeAndre Levy. This is assuming the Lions do not chose to choose to move on from Matthew Stafford and his huge salary cap hit ($22.5 Million in 2016), thus making QB their top need in the draft.

12. New Orleans Saints - Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
Rob Ryan was fired, but the Saints defense still sucks. What’s even worse, the offense also stalled as the season progressed. Sean Payton may not be back as head coach of the Saints in 2016 and a fresh start wouldn’t be the worst thing for the organization. Myles Jack is an elite athlete and should return from injury to prove that. The Saints defense needs some playmakers and Jack fits the mold.

13. Atlanta Falcons - Deforest Buckner, DE, Oregon
The Falcons fall from 5-0 was brutal. Dan Quinn had the Falcons flying high early in the season, so there’s hope for them in the future. Deforest Buckner would be 6-Technique to the “Leo” in Dan Quinn’s defense played by last year’s first round pick, Vic Beasley.
14. Oakland Raiders - Taylor Decker, OT, Ohio State
The Raiders arrow is pointing up and GM Reggie McKenzie has nailed the last two drafts after a decade-long drought of bad picks. They’ve got their QB of the future set in place and now they need to get more of the big guys to protect Derek Carr.

15. New York Giants - Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State
There’s something missing from the Giants pass rush, but it’s hard to put my finger on it… Cheap shot? Maybe, but Jason Pierre-Paul is not the man he used to be. He may come back to the Giants in 2016, but drafting pass rushers is what the Giants do (or at least they used to). Emmanuel Ogbah is built like a rock and could make an immediate impact.
16. Buffalo Bills - Vadal Alexander, G/T, LSU
Rex Ryan will get the defense back on track. He’s going to need to protect Tyrod Taylor, who performed well in his first year of starting, and establish a consistent running game. Vadal Alexander (6’6″, 345 lbs.) is a massive road grader that will add to the “bullies” Rex is collecting along the offensive line.
