Top 20 Fantasy RBs - Week 7
With so many RBs on bye weeks…
I thought I would help the fantasy world out by naming my top 20 RBs for Week 7.
Warning: There are a couple Eminem references in here. If you didn’t catch them right off the bat, then don’t worry. I provided links.
RBs on BYE: Eddie Lacy (GB), James Starks (GB), Ronnie Hillman (DEN), CJ Anderson (DEN), Giovanni Bernard (CIN), Jeremy Hill (CIN), Matt Forte (CHI)
1. Devonta Freeman @ Tennessee Titans
I’m convinced that Devonta Freeman is immortal. Absolutely exploding onto the NFL scene, much like Odell Beckham, Jr. did so last year, he is the main reason why the Falcons are 5-1, just one win shy of their previous year’s total. Averaging 21.6 ppg, he is the #1 RB against any opponent.
2. Adrian Peterson @ Detroit Lions
Adrian Peterson hasn’t missed a beat from his 2013 season. He is still the centerpiece to this offense. Even though he only racked up 60 yards on the ground last week, expect a major bounce back from the veteran in Week 7 against a Lions defense that allows the 7th most ppg to RBs this season.
3. Le’Veon Bell @ Kansas City Chiefs
With the Pittsburgh Steelers third-string QB Landry Jones expected to start in Week 7, Le’Veon Bell‘s role just took a monumental jump. Like Michael Vick, Jones will expected to become more of a game manager and a “don’t turn the ball over” type of QB for the Steelers. Expect 25+ touches for Bell against the Kansas City Chiefs.
4. Doug Martin @ Washington Redskins
Doug Martin has returned to his 2012-13 rookie form as is ranked as #3 in RB fantasy scoring. He’s coming off a bye and is up to face a stingy Redskins’ defense who allow the 4th least ppg to RBs this season. But after torching the Jaguars in Week 5 (33 pts.), I think the Redskins will have a tough time stopping Martin.
5. Chris Ivory @ New England Patriots
Chris Ivory has made some noise over his past two games racking up 47 points. The Jets are facing the Patriots for the first time this year, and should provide good fantasy production from Ivory. New England is 8th when it comes to points allowed, but against big, bruising RBs, like Frank Gore and DeAngelo Williams, they’ve allowed 6 ypc. With a similar, power run-style, Ivory will have a day against the Patriots in Foxborough.
6. Chris Johnson vs. Baltimore Ravens
CJ had a not-so-2K kind of day against the Pittsburgh Steelers, only scoring a measly 4 points. The whole cardinals offense couldn’t find enough ways to score, as they lost 13 - 25. Chris Johnson still had 15 touches on the day, but couldn’t find the right holes to maximize them. Next week, he’s facing a Ravens’ defense who has allowed RBs to score 15+ points in 3 of 6 games this season. This is a great opportunity for a bounce-back game and to put up some huge fantasy numbers.
7. Justin Forsett @ Arizona Cardinals
Justin Forsett had a solid, balanced fantasy game against the 49ers last Sunday (9 pts.). He had a combined 24 touches (17 rush, 7 rec.), but failed to find the endzone in the 20 - 25 loss. With his increase in the pass game, he is especially valuable in PPR leagues, but in standard scoring is still a great start against a Cardinals defense that has allowed double-digit scoring to RBs in 5 of 6 games this year.
8. Mark Ingram @ Indianapolis Colts
Mark Ingram and the New Orleans Saints played their best game against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football, which included 2 TDs from Mark Ingram giving him 17 points on the night. Ingram will look to continue that success against a Indianapolis Colts defense that surrendered 22 points to LaGarrette Blount at home.
9. LeSean McCoy @ Jacksonville Jaguars
Shady’s back…. back again. Tell a friend. LeSean McCoy, after being out with a hamstring injury with the last two weeks, resurrected last Sunday with a solid 15 point performance against one of the league’s best defenses in the Cincinnati Bengals. The Buffalo Bills will travel to London this week to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars, who allow the 5th most points (21.2 ppg) to RBs this season.
10. Frank Gore vs. New Orleans Saints
Frank Gore, the ageless wonder, has shown this season in spurts of greatness that he is still a downfield, hard nosed runner. Even with Indianapolis’ horrific offensive line, he still manages to find holes and punish tacklers averaging 4.5 ypc (5th best of his career). Gore is a huge part of Indy’s offense getting at least 15 touches in the last 5 games. He’s their first, second, third-down, and goal line RB. Big value this week against a Saints defense that allows the 6th most points (20.8 ppg) to RBs this season.
