Top 20 Fantasy RBs - Week 7
11. Latavius Murray vs. San Diego Chargers
The Chargers give up the most points to RBs in the NFL averaging 24.3 ppg. Some might be ready to hang up the towel on Latavius Murray after his last two disappointing games, in which he scored a measly 9 points combined. In those two games Murray still received 15 or more touches, and against a weak Chargers defense, he’ll exploit them big time. I’m predicting a 15-20 point game for Murray.
12. DeMarco Murray @ Carolina Panthers
DeMarco Murray has finally found his groove in Philly, scoring 17 points in each of his last two games. Going up against a tough Carolina defense, lead by All-Pro LB Luke Kueckly, will test his value to the Eagles. Still, Chip Kelly has faith in his star RB and will give him his carries. The Panthers have allowed 4 TDs to RBs in the last three games, so Murray will be looking to get a piece of that pie.
13. Lamar Miller vs. Houston Texans
At the beginning of the season, I was a firm believer in Lamar Miller and what the Miami Dolphins could accomplish. I had Miller ranked at 10th on my RB list, but was unable to draft him, thankfully. I’m sure Dolphins’ fans would agree, but thank God the Dolphins fired Joe Philbin. Interim Head Coach Dan Campbell has been talking a lot about an “attitude” improvement when it comes to offensive line and the run game. Campbell likes to run, run, run, and run some more. With Miller’s past game on Sunday where he racked up 113 yards and 1 TD on 19 carries, Campbell has shown the Dolphins organization what it takes to win: Giving your best player the football. Miller is a must start in all leagues.
14. Todd Gurley vs. Cleveland Browns
This guy. Todd Gurley‘s last two weeks are why the Rams selected him 10th overall in this year’s draft. Compiling 320 total yards in the last two games, Gurley is fantasy dream. This week, coming off a bye, he and the St. Louis Rams are facing a Browns defense who let Ronnie Hillman run for 111 yards on 20 carries last week. I doubt that Gurley will get over 100 yards again this week, but a TD or two is definitely plausible.
15. Arian Foster @ Miami Dolphins
It was hard deciding where to rank Arian Foster this week. With the new coaching dilemma in Miami, we don’t know if last weeks’ dominating performance by the Dolphins’ defense was legit or a fluke. Either way, Foster has been a bit hit or miss as well this season. Foster’s season-high of 53 rushing yards last Sunday shows that he’s not as explosive as Foster used to be. However, he did have 53 yards receiving and a TD on 5 receptions. Miami is right in the middle of the pack when it comes to points allowed to RBs this season, allowing just 16.2 ppg (NFL average: 16.5), but I’m predicting Foster have heavy usage this Sunday an and increase in touches.
16. Marshawn Lynch @ San Francisco 49ers
BeastMode had a decent outing (11 pts.) against a Carolina defense that surrenders 17.4 ppg to RBs. Lynch has been battling multiple injuries so far this season, so this is why I have him ranked so low. On the upside, he’s facing the San Francisco 49ers, who surrender 19.7 ppg. However, at home, the 49ers have given up just 13 ppg, good enough for 6th in the league
17. LeGarrette Blount vs. New York Jets
Yes, LaGarrette Blount torched the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football, so why is he ranked so low? Reason being is: a) Indianapolis doesn’t have a good run defense at 20th in the NFL. b) In New England, you never know which RB will have the better game.
Blount has definitely earned the starting role, but it will definitely be hard for him to produce this week as he goes up against the 2nd best rushing defense (82.6 ypg) in football. The New York Jets also allow just 10 ppg to RBs, which is first in fantasy.
18. Isaiah Crowell @ St. Louis Rams
Isaiah Crowell is a risky start in any league. His value is based solely on his ability to find the endzone. He doesn’t have great break away abilities, and also isn’t used in many goal line opportunities. This is a guy who will either get you 3 points (Week 6) or 13 points (Week 5). Crowell and the Browns are facing the St. Louis Rams, who have given up 113 rush ypg, but only 3 TDs to RBs this season. Between early down work and the passing game, Crowell will get his opportunities to get you a decent amount of fantasy points.
19. Joseph Randle @ New York Giants
The last time the Dallas Cowboys faced off against the G-Men was in Week 1, where Joseph Randle scored a decent 10 points. Heading into Week 7, the Cowboys have been dissatisfied with Randle’s performance so far and are wanting to utilize third-string RB Christine Michael more. This news has seemingly depleted Randle’s fantasy value. Not knowing how many touches Randle will be getting this Sunday against the Giants, whom allow a generous 18 ppg to RBs, will be rough for fantasy owners heading into Sunday’s game, but don’t fret. Randle will get his touches. Expect a 10 point outing, like in Week 1.
20. Rashad Jennings vs. Dallas Cowboys
Speaking of the New York Giants, Rashad Jennings has led the Giants backfield so far, but not that impressively. Jennings has scored just 12 points in the last two games and hasn’t had a TD since Week 1. But, guess who that TD was against? You guessed, the Dallas Cowboys. In fact, the Dallas Cowboys allow the 3rd most fantasy ppg to RBs this season (23.4 ppg). The Cowboys defense has been chewed up, spit out, and booed off stage allowing more than 21 points to RBs in their last 3 games. While splitting carries with Shane Vereen and Andre Williams, Jennings will have to maximize his opportunities against the Cowboys on Sunday.
Sleeper Candidates: Charles Sims (TB), Charcandrick West (KC)
