Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings

It’s time for fantasy football drafts! Here are the NFLRT Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings for the top-20 RBs available.

The infographics do not belong to NFLRT and can be found at John Fichera’s Behance page.

NOTE: If your league drafted before the middle of August, you should find a new commissioner. Injuries, cuts, and suspensions all have yet to be finalized. Week 3 of preseason is the earliest you want to draft.

#1 Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson

As long as Adrian Peterson is able to run, he should be the top RB selected. He is the only RB of his kind and should continue to produce consistently, even through injuries. With an upgraded passing attack (Teddy Bridgewater) and the WRs (Jennings and Patterson) requiring attention on the outside, look for Adrian Peterson to have a more productive season than in 2013.

#2 Jamaal Charles

Jamaal Charles is the #1 option in Kansas City and should see an increase in touched this season. The offensive line needs to move a few pieces around, but ultimately Charles should continue to produce in this Chiefs offense. The biggest question is if Andy Reid can continue to feature a RB in his offense when he has such a pass-first mentality while calling plays. The good thing is that Alex Smith is “Captain Checkdown” and Charles can take it to the house anytime he has the ball in open space.

#3 LeSean McCoy

LeSean McCoy is what makes the Eagles high powered offense tick, and although he had the most rushing attempts in 2013, he has been a durable RB in his career thus far. Chip Kelly loves McCoy and he should produce similar numbers, despite the addition of Darren Sproles. If Nick Foles regresses in his first full season as the starter, McCoy could also see a drop in production.

#4 Matt Forte

Matt Forte has been somewhat inconsistent as a fantasy RB throughout his career due to injuries. IF (big if) he stays healthy, he’s going to be one of the top 5 RBs in the league with his ability to run and catch. If you draft Forte, handcuff his backup, rookie Ka’Deem Carey, with a late round pick in case of injury.

#5 Eddie Lacy

Eddie Lacy had a great rookie year and debunked the trend of Alabama RBs failing at the next level. Aaron Rodgers back at QB for a full season should help open up more running lanes since Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien weren’t scaring any defenses in 2013. Lacy could move himself into the upper-echelon of RBs if he follows up his rookie season with a similar performance.
