#6 - Panthers DE, Greg Hardy

2014 Base Salary: $13,116,000 (Highest among Defensive Ends; 8th Highest in NFL)

Greg Hardy is another player that makes this list due to self-infliction. He only played in one game due to the domestic abuse charges against him. In his lone game against the Buccaneers porous offensive line, Hardy amassed 4 tackles and 1 sack. Character issues had to contribute to the Panthers hesitation to give Hardy the huge deal he sought after in the offseason, and the Franchise Tag proved to be invaluable once again. Greg Hardy has been on the Commissioner’s Exempt list all season and will continue to receive his $770,000 checks each week.
