Biggest NFL Draft Busts: Where Are They Now?
#5 - WR Charles Rogers
Picked 2nd Overall in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions
Career Stats:
36 Catches
440 Receiving Yards
4 TDs
2 Broken Clavicles
3 Arrests
After receiving Randy Moss comparisons at Michigan State and running a 4.4-Forty-Yard Dash, Charles Rogers was selected by the Lions one pick before the Texans selected Andre Johnson. After catching 22 passes for 243 yards & 3 touchdowns in his rookie year, Rogers suffered his first broken clavicle. After suffering his 2nd broken clavicle in as many years, GM Matt Millen allowed him to go home for the remainder of his second season. He admitted in an interview that he began smoking marijuana to deal with pain in collarbones during time away from the team. In 2005, he was suspended 4-games after his 3rd violation of the NFL Substance Abuse Policy.
Currently: After arrests for assault & battery of his girlfriend, DUI, a violation of a sobriety court order, and accusations of him threatening his mother’s life, Rogers has been in and out of rehabilitation facilities.
